| what constitutes 10 minutes in the bin?
Is it 10 minutes actual time, or 10minutes official clock time?
Pryce was only in the bin for 8mins of official clock time. I thought so at the time, and confirmed it once I got home.
Seems silly if it was actual time, as an injury to a player, and a sin bin could only last 5 mins of game time

AFAIK it's 10 mins from when he goes to the bin on a seperate timer.

| Correct, IIRC.
If someone gets injured a minute after the sin binning and doesn't leave on a stretcher for nine minutes then it's served.

Fair enough. Seems a stupid rule if you ask me though

I never said it was a good rule. I agree with you that the ten minutes should run alongside the game time rather than actual time.

| Isn’t the ‘Binning’ supposed to cool the offending player off more than reward the infringed team?

As most binnings (I'd imagine) occur from professional fouls I'd say the latter element is served most often.
In any case, it should be able to do both and would if the sin bin clock tied in with the in game clock.

I remember when Bailey got poleaxed at Craven – it took over ten minutes to remove him from the pitch. If a Rovers player had been sinned binned straight after the incident he would have returned back on the pitch before play restarted!!!
I fully agree with you mate – the ten minutes should run against the game clock.

To give a referee his due here he may stop the clock (as he does) so the player can receive the medical attention and only issue the card if merited (and obviously it wasn't in that particular case) when play is ready to re-start.
Incidentally Peter Fox and Paul McShane were each binned in that game and the referee was Bentham same as last night.
Had a player been in the bin before the incident then there's nothing the referee can do to prevent the shortening of the penalty.

Let's wait for the disciplinary verdict (if referred to the committee) to see when Senior returns for Leeds.
