It wouldn't be wise to release Cust unless we had suitable cover in the halves regardless of him being a quota player or not. That's what he was signed for and he has proven invaluable since the departure of Abdul. Would we prefer a better player using that quota place? Of course but that's why it's called a rebuild, not a magic wand. I think we are so far ahead of anyone's expectations both on and off the field at this point that we just need to catch our breath and keep our feet on the ground.
It's not about cust, it's about the non fed spot. It could be used on an overseas centre who would give us more than cust as backup half/hooker would plus opens the pathway for balmforth and Hutchinson. Won't happen anyway as cartwright likes cust
