| There are two things in this for me.
The first, and not at all the most important, is that there should be some recognition of the club for trying to correct this. It is easy, especially when injuries are taking toll, to look the other way, but we have dropped Duffy (twice), King and Philbin despite being desperate for numbers.
But, and it’s a huge butt, this is yet another example of the so called leadership letting the team down. On and off the field they have been a source of our downfall.
This week could be a line in the sand for me. If CTW can show that his body can stand up to super league for the rest of the season, let him have it and arrive at 2026 with him locked in as number 1. Similarly with Williams. Grafter, complete superstar of the game, but something isn’t working with him and it’s clear he wants out, so let him have it. Give Hayes the rest of the year as an apprenticeship and arrive ready for round 1.
We would have to buckle up for a few seasons of not factoring in the big games, but we could reasonably line up with CTW, Thewlis, Lindrop, Wrench, Ashton, ?, Hayes as our backline. Big pack, smarts from Walker and Currie and just trim the fat.
I can see objectively that injuries have impacted our year, of course they have, and the club with a similar injury list is Souths and they are dead last in the competition. So there is something to take from that. But we can’t rely on leaders on the pitch under pressure, and we can’t rely on their behaviours to set standards in the sheds. It’s time for Williams, Sneyd, Vaughan, Fitzgibbon, Currie, King, Yates, Walker et al to drag this team kicking and flipping screaming over the line. There literally is no next week if we don’t get something on Friday, so if we lose, start pre season and get the kids some time in the middle.

Unacceptable if true BH
One of the lad's relatives told me about it. Obviously I won't name the player involved, but it definitely happened. Not a problem Boss and for clarity I wasn't doubting you, as you don't seem the 'type' if that makes sense. We are a small sport by national standards, and it exists in a small town environment. How do people think they can do what they want and further think that they are to some degree untouchable and get away with it? W71 said the club leaks like a sieve I'd have us down as a colander. I find it infuriating that certain (not all) players fail to uphold any serious level of commitment and professionalism and in a sad and serious way common decency. Yes, as BW2 said there has been recent examples of the club reacting to a variety of incidents by dropping players from match day squads, but there are a couple of problems with this approach; one why are the club having to react in the first place and why is this kind of thing not a one off?

Small sport, big sport it’s all the same these days. With the advent of social media there is no hiding places anymore. You do something wrong someone is there with a mobile phone taking pictures or posting what they have seen.

| I've deliberately kept away from the forum for some time - and most other Wire forums - because I just felt that I was seeing the same thing time and time again in terms of raised expectations only to be dashed somewhere down the line. The 'It's always our year' tag is very apt.
I've no idea what's gone on with Dufty, but can read the inference from the posts. It's just yet another disappointment. True or not, I've finally written this season off (so arguably that means we'll win on Friday only to lose after that).
I feel sorry for a lot of people who put their time, money, heart and sole into the club, and the fans who have stood by the club year after year.
When the wheels come off at Warrington they sure do come off.
I don't know what has to change to make us winners - and I would suggest that nobody on here does either. Social media - for good or bad - does allow keyboard warriors to have their say regardless of how much knowledge they really have (and I include myself in this). I tend to think that's a negative.
We've changed players, coaches, management and management structures. We're one of the best funded teams, and yet.... For every Vaughan, Williams and Ashton there's been a Maguire, Asotasi and Kibula.
Frustrating to say the least. Unfortunately there is still hope - as some have said - with our youngsters. Thewlis x2, Lindop, Taylor-Wray, Hayes, Gardner, Wood, Holroyd, arguably Wrench and Thomas to name but a few (take a bow Gary Chambers?)
And it's the hope that kills you!
Anyway - time to move on. What'll be will be.

Dufty named in this week's 21, as is Taylor-Wray
Told he still won't be playing. By naming him in the squad the club can avoid the backlash from fans where as not naming him would require a statement confirming that he's been stood down. Zero transparency and connection between the club and the fans. They really do have no shame trying to keep things like this under wraps. Surely the club know that they leak like a sieve? Honesty is the best policy, a normally functioning club would issue a statement like this: "Matthew Dufty will be unavailable for selection this weekend following an internal disciplinary matter. No further comment will be made". KFP would never make a statement like that. There aren't enough 'buzz' words in it to make him sound intelligent when he's simply a buffoon that's way out of his depth.
