Sport needs controversy and video refs are squeezing it out of our game. How about refs make decisions on what they see but each team's captain can overrule and go to the video referee 5 times per game. A bit like tennis players calling for hawkeye?

It's almost like is there any point going to the video ref if both teams think it's a try? Also it would stop people trying to con the ref by nodding and all that if they knew that an opposition player could just challenge it even if it's given.

With some of the pain in the ar$e captains running around in the game?

And what happens if the GF is decided by a terrible decision that cant be reviewed because a team used its challenges?

Do we really need this? What would be the point? Cricket is a confusing, tedious sport where it's very difficult to understand what's going on anyway so it doesn't matter too much there, but it would just be a pain in RL.

I disagree. I think to make the league fair, video refs should be at every game.

Video refs as an idea is fine. What isn't is them getting confused over their role.

They should just look at the footage and give their opinion on whether it's a try or not. They have come up with some absolutely farcical decisions this season such as the knockonathon try by Carvell.

I think we should raising the bar when it comes to referees on the pitch.

When the VR was first introduced, it was rarely used, most decisions were made by the referee, in recent years, the pendulum has swung the other way. This can only be dampening the on field referees sense and decision making.

The obstruction rule needs to be changed. Dummy runners are allowed on every play, apart from a try scoring play. It should be one or the other.

That'd get rid of most of the VR decisions.

Or NO game.

Why would that make it fair? Having a video ref is not to the advantage of any team.



Dummy runners are allowed on try scoring plays. Dummy runners who obstruct defenders are not allowed on any plays (try scoring or not). Just because the video ref spends a few minutes making a call that the ref normally has to make in a few seconds doesn't mean that the ref isn't making that call.
