christopher: Not sure why people automatically dismiss JJB? None of us have worked with him so don't know about his qualities for the role, he's at least ran/runs a business and has been on the board.
What business did JJB run, and what formal qualifications and relevant experience does he possess? I don't know the full answer. What I do know is that in a short period of time, he has been assistant coach, temporary head coach, director of diversity and inclusion (or equivalent title) and Sky Sports media pundit (potentially more). Seems like he doesn't really know what he wants, or that he's a jack of all trades. This doesn't strike me as the CV of someone who has been painstakingly building to becoming a CEO of a relatively high profile regional sports club. I like JJB personally, but I worry that appointing him as CEO isn't the hard-nosed business decision making that led to us getting Blease, for example.
JJB's commitment to Leeds is there for everyone to see, for sure. But he doesn't strike me as having the political nous of Gary Hetherington. Kevin Sinfield, for example, worked some time in sports administration for the RFL, and seemed like a more logical successor if we wanted to appoint from within, but even that would be risky given past associations. Perhaps Sinfield felt the need to steer clear while Jack is still making his way, and didn't like the level of scrutiny when he was last in a senior position at the club?
